Miles from the Sea was a mini collection of unusual objects, curious items and things personal to the artist that have been acquired, found, borrowed, begged, stolen or bought. These artefacts are not collected in any historical context and the artist is not an explorer, hunter or gatherer. This collection is combined with a selection of drawings, doodles and paintings that compliment the themes of the sea, travelling and strange creatures. Inspiration for this show has come from many directions; travelling, friends, train boredom, wildlife, wasting time and most notably the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Walter Potter taxidermy collection. As well as the constant fascination with the visual appeal of strange objects taken out of their context.
